What is WISHES?
WISHES stands for the Wellbeing Improvement Survey for Higher Education Settings. It aims to understand student wellbeing, educational outcomes, and experiences that impact SDSU students.
What is the purpose of this survey?
This survey helps SDSU improve programs to better meet your needs as a student. The data collected will guide SDSU in making changes to support all students' success and wellbeing.
The survey is being conducted in partnership with Dean of Students Caryl Montero-Adams and the Program Evaluation, Compliance, and Assessment (PECA) department.
All SDSU students are invited to take part in the survey throughout the academic year. The survey is sent to a subset of students every month.
Each student will be asked to complete the survey only once per academic year.
- The exception is for students in GEN S classes, who will complete the survey twice in Fall 2024: in October and December.
If you miss the survey, you won't have another chance to take it during that academic year, as each student is invited to participate only once per year.
You will be invited during specific months:
Fall 2024: Invitation emails will be sent on
- September 3,
- October 1, and
- November 1.
Students in GEN S 100 classes will receive invitations on
- October 1 and
- December 2.
Spring 2025: Invitation emails will be sent on
- February 3,
- March 3,
- and April 7.
Yes, the survey must be completed by the last day of the month in which you receive the invitation email.
Fall 2024:
- September 30
- October 31
- November 30
For GEN S students:
- October 13 for the first survey
- December 15 for the second survey.
Spring 2025:
- February 28

- April 30
You will receive an invitation via your SDSU student email during the month you're selected to participate.
